Background

The first step in creating a complete census of the historic houses in the township was just computer work using Zillow and the Oakland County Property Portal. This gave us a rough list of properties. Next we needed to field check and get actual photos of the houses. So Linda and I decided that we would walk all the roads in the township and take pictures! Doesn’t seem so difficult. The rough estimate for roads is less than 84 miles (6 miles x 6 miles = 7 lines of 6 miles vertically and horizontally). Unlike many townships, Rose doesn’t have roads on all section lines, hence it’s less than 84. Also, there is no need to walk the “new” neighborhoods because they won’t have historic homes.
